CTE – Career & Technology Education
The United States Department of Education (USDOE) has endorsed Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) as a critical component of an effective Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The responsibility for CTE instructional programs and related activities, including CTSOs, rests with the state and local education agencies. CTSOs are defined in the Federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006, Section 3 (6):
In general - The term career and technical student organization means an organization for individuals enrolled in a career and technical education program that engages in career and technical education activities as an integral part of the instructional program.

State and National Units - An organization described in subparagraph (A) may have state and national units that aggregate the work and purposes of instruction in career and technical education at the local level.
At one time CTE courses were only offered to students enrolled in grades 9-12.  In today’s society, the emphasis has expanded to include providing opportunities for students in middle school to begin a career-oriented pathway.
At present, Hudson Middle School provides the following opportunities for qualified students.
